Education Through Transformation

Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.
— EE Cummings

We believe in the power of education to illuminate the human spirit, and the importance of social/emotional learning in the fullness of that transformation.

  • UCSB Arts & Lectures (A&L) curates a robust and diverse menu of in person and on-line offerings to make possible high-quality, timely presentations by leaders in the arts and sciences, politics and government, education and advocacy. A&L endeavors to feature guest speakers whose expertise and discussion topics align with NOF’s key areas of interest, as well as current and emerging issues. As part of our Community Partnership with A & L, students  from elementary school through college throughout the county are also exposed  to these world leaders and experts .

  • LOUD believes that the arts are a catalyst for a life of fulfillment and creativity and that arts education should be available to everyone. We share LOUD’s belief that a high quality arts education can be transformative in the life of a young person. LOUD provides instruments and world class music/film education to low-income students in the Los Angeles area through a 32-week curriculum in an after school setting at school sites, plus experiential learning through hands on recording in LOUD’s mobile studio.

  • AHA! An initiative that began in Santa Barbara High Schools and has spread throughout the county and the U.S., AHA! seeks to inspire youth to feel safe, seen, celebrated, and emotionally connected. AHA! is committed to equipping young people in life-saving skills that uplift communities, help schools heal in the wake of conflict and grief, spur mindful technology usage and transform difficult emotions through creative expression and connection to nature
